Sea of Heartbreak... Engines... Get it?

"The lights in the harbor
Don't shine for me
I'm like a lost ship adrift on the sea
Sea of heartbreak"

After two and a half years and two tours across Europe the Heartbreak Engines returned to the harbor: their hometown Essen to play for some 10.000 people on the renown Pfingst Open Air Werden.

For the first time ever they opened their show with an intro, namely 'Sea of Heartbreak' by Johnny Cash which faded into Dan's heavy riffing for 'Angel Soul / Demon Heart' from their upcoming second album.

And with that the Heartbreak Engines' punk'n'roll pushed the clouds aside and pulled people into the pogo pit to party in the sunshine.

They speed rocked through their program of half new stuff and half classics from their debut and obviously appealed to the mixed open air crowd that sang along with R.O.C.C.O, danced to the groove of 'This Night on Halloween' and took off as one on 'Evil Wings'.

It was good to see the Heartbreak Engines magic work in the outdoors just as well as in a smoky club. The afternoon in Essen sure helped them to break the boundaries of the Psychobilly and Punk scenes and get attention from a much wider audience.

Their new album will hit the stores this summer. Join in and sail away on the sea of heartbreak!
